In addition to the script, a series is based also on the designs of its characters and stages. For this reason, several books have been created in order to explore the content of the play, with additional information and illustrations that cover the manga, the anime or movies. They're re classified according to the content, receiving a different name: Artbook (illustrations, artistic images, sketches, settei), Databook (information, supplementary data, analysis, interviews, short stories), Mook (hybrid publication, magazine, newspaper and book) and Booklet (small books with short-run and volume publications that provide interesting data). Among the works dedicated to the Saint Seiya universe, only the so-called “Burning Blood”, “Sora”, “Hikari” and “Hades” are officially considered as Artbooks. The other works are compilations of information, like the Taizen encyclopedia for example.
